Materials:
1/2 cup of hydrogen peroxide at 6% (It is essential that it be 6%)
1 tablespoon of dry yeast
3 tablespoons of warm water
Dishwashing liquid or soap
Food coloring
A plastic bottle
Place the bottle on the tray to protect the spill area; You can also use a protective plastic for the floor if you wish.
Mix in a glass the yeast and water until there are no lumps, you can let your child remove them well using a funny spoon or similar.
In the bottle, mix the dishwasher soap, the food coloring and 1/2 cup of hydrogen peroxide.
Finally pour the water with the yeast through the hole in the bottle and retire to observe the reaction.
Because it happens?
The fungus of the yeast will cause the hydrogen peroxide to decompose releasing oxygen in the form of a gas that, upon contact with the soap, will form foam in an abrupt manner.
This experiment will allow you to talk about solid, liquid and gas states, chemical reactions and the molecules that make up the elements. But the best thing is how much fun it is.
